He was the brother of Jabez Young Jackson, also a Congressman. William Jackson was the son of James Jackson (a soldier in the American Revolution as well as a Congressman, US Senator, and Governor of Georgia), and the father of another James Jackson (a Congressman and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia). The article explains that the tree had been located on the property of Colonel William Henry Jackson. ![]() The earliest-known telling of the tree's story comes from "Deeded to Itself", a front-page article in the Athens Weekly Banner on August 12, 1890. The subject matter and simple language will make The Silver Kiss a haunting choice for reluctant readers. The climax is a roller-coaster ride in reality, the macabre, death, and love. Klause blends their struggle into a fine novel, integrating story, history, and a bit of vampire lore. Simon and Zoe, each with their own problems, come together, and are able to draw strength from one another. All the characters are skillfully portrayed and highly believable. Zoe, in turn, comes to grips with her problems and finds an inner strength to cope. In a forceful conclusion, Simon accomplishes his mission and commits suicide. As their friendship grows over time, Simon reveals to Zoe his true identity: he is a vampire, trying to kill his younger vampire brother. The main message of the book is recycle plastic bags and encourage people to use reusable bags as much as possible. Kaleisha helps him out, but then the two decide to learn about ways to make sure that sort of thing doesn't happen to other animals. Agwe is feasting on some jellyfish, when he accidently ingests a plastic bag. ![]() These two friends have a great story to tell about the importance of keeping the oceans clean, so that sea creatures aren't harmed. This is a cute picture book featuring a mermaid, Kaleisha, and her friend, a green sea turtle named Agwe. I'm not sure how long the book is available at that price, but the other books in the series are available for $2.99 each on Amazon, so still pretty affordable. No again, and so on for two dozen more questions. ![]() Was I taking any prescription medications? Nope. Had I ever had vascular, spinal or joint replacement surgery? Nope. When I got to the doctor’s office, I would be given a long health survey to fill out. The check-up process turned out to be tedious. ![]() On my fiftieth birthday, though, my wife said that it was time for me to start getting annual check-ups, so I did. I not only recovered but enjoyed robust health for the next half century. My mother said that as a baby, I had nearly died of pneumonia. Over the course of the next year, I got old.
